From a bilingual background, Writer/Director Gwenaëlle Gobé investigates assimilation and isolation in today's urban landscape. Inspired by the Los Angeles layout, Fish and Teeth is set in a fantasy sprawl inhabited by magical beings who never meet.

Although Stephanie The Mermaid and Anthony The Vampire live in the same city, they do not see each other. They are so secluded in their worlds, that anything beyond is invisible.

The theme of isolation is also pursued visually. There is a stark contrast between the city's economic reality in the fishing boat documentary footage, and the fantasy worlds of the mermaids and the vampires constructed with lush colors and fabricated locations.

Fish and Teeth is the recipient of the Fotokem Grant and the Panavision New Filmaker's Grant.
