Bios: Writer/Director: Gwenaëlle Gwenaelle Gobe approaches storytelling in an unconventional way. She believes stories are defined by their emotions, and emotions should be expressed with impact. To create powerful visual experiences, she challenges old and new techniques from Art, Film, Theatre and Graphic Design. Her work is always extremely hands on, vibrant and poetic. Producers: Jason Brown/ Angela Webb Coming soon. Cinematographer: Tania Villarreal Tania is a graduate of Broadcasting and Communications from the University of Monterrey, in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She worked as a professional portrait photographer for 3 years before she explored the film medium as a cinematographer. She attended various film courses at UCLA, the International Workshops in Maine and the Pittsburgh Filmmakers. During that time she also worked as a cinematographer shooting short films, video clips, commercial spots and corporate videos. Her 3-year experience as a cinematographer led her to the AFI Conservatory to persue a Master degree in Cinematography where she acquired new skills and a full understanding of the medium. Production Designer: Nancy Chen Nancy is in her last year of her graduate study and she is expecting her MFA degree in scenic design at California Institute of the Arts on May 2006. She received her bachelor degree in architecture at Tunghai University in Taichung, Taiwan. While Nancy receives her training in scenic design, she is exploring other areas in the film and performing arts field. She has worked on two theater productions, The Saint Plays and A Toy in Blood, at California Institute of the Arts as the scenic designer. She also assisted two other productions which are Good Person of Szechuan and Joy of the Desolate. Her work as a production designer/set designer in other areas includes two graduate thesis films, Over Here (USC), O Sweet Virgin (CalArts) and a graduate dance thesis, Underneath the Battlefield Soil (CalArts). Costume Designer: Hanalani Lee coming soon. Editor: Nathaniel Smith Nathaniel is a recent graduate of the AFI Conservatory with a Masters Degree in editing. While at AFI, he was able to edit 10 short films in the span of two years, providing him with valuable experience and ample opportunities to expand his creative and technical knowledge. These projects ranged from thrillers to comedies to dramas and were shot on digital video, HD, and 35mm. While a student at the University of Tulsa, Nathaniel edited the film Yorick and interned on the film Return to Sender where he worked closely with all facets of production. In addition, he directed and edited several short films and served as an editing consultant on a documentary about the Carnival in Veracruz. Nathaniel strives to create emotionally stirring and thought-provoking films that touch their audience and believes that editing is a powerful tool in creating these types of films. Composer: Teri Card-Heller Teri Card is currently pursuing an MFA in Music Composition at California Institute of the Arts. She received her BA in Music Composition at Mills College and has studied composition with Anne LeBaron, Mort Subotnick, Mike Fink, Fred Frith, Alvin Curran, and Pauline Oliveros. She interned for film and TV composer, Willow Williamson, through the “Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences” the summer of 2005. Teri enjoys being influenced by a number of music cultures and genres, some of which include Bach, Bartok, Glass, Elfman, Irish, Flamenco and Balinese gamelon. She has done works for soloists, chamber and large ensembles, film, dance, and theater. One of her most serious works, “Glorious Youth,” was performed by the CalArts professional NCP large ensemble at LA’s downtown RedCat theater in May 2005. She also composed the soundtrack to Andrea Pallaoro’s short film, “Smeralda,” in 2005. Her music is often characterized by moody harmonies, driving rhythmic pulses, and orchestrational tone colorings. Sound Mixer: Mirabelle Ang Mirabelle Ang is a Singaporean documentary filmmaker based in Los Angeles, California. Shortly after graduating from film school in Singapore in 1997, she was offered a scholarship to intern and research at California Video Center (CVC, now known as GDMX), a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, which started her early career in DVD Authoring. During her one-year stint at CVC, she contributed to the completion of many Hollywood DVD titles. Mirabelle is one of the pioneers of DVD technology in Singapore and has given seminars and workshops to regional media practitioners. After years of teaching and working in the DVD industry, she decided to pursue her passion for documentary filmmaking.
